Dishwasher repair without the guesswork
Dishwashers combine water, heat, drainage and electronics in a tight space, so a single symptom can have several possible causes. Standing water in the bottom of the tub might be a blocked filter, a kinked drain hose, a failed drain pump or a clogged disposal connection. Testing tells us which.
What we check
On the fill side we look at the water inlet valve, the float switch and the fill level. On the drain side we check the pump, the check valve, the air gap and the drain hose run. For poor cleaning we inspect the spray arms for blocked jets, the filter assembly, the detergent dispenser and the heating element that brings the water up to temperature.
Leaks are commonly the door gasket, a worn pump seal or a loose hose clamp — all repairable without replacing the machine.
Keep it running well
Regularly clearing the filter and running a hot cycle with a dishwasher cleaner prevents a good share of the drain and odour complaints we see. If your dishes have started coming out cloudy or gritty despite clean filters, that is worth a service call.
