Dryer repair and safety
A dryer that runs but no longer heats is one of the most common appliance failures — and one of the most fixable. A dryer that overheats or smells like burning is a different matter. That points to restricted airflow, and restricted airflow is a leading cause of dryer fires.
If you notice a burning smell, the drum getting unusually hot, or a load taking far longer than it used to, stop using the machine and have it looked at. We also recommend dryer vent cleaning for exactly this reason.
What we check
No-heat complaints typically come down to the heating element, the thermal fuse, the thermostat or the gas igniter on a gas model. A dryer that won't tumble often needs a drive belt, an idler pulley or a drum roller. Long dry times and overheating usually mean the vent run, the blower wheel or the lint screen housing is restricted.
We test the heating circuit and the airflow path together, because a dryer that appears to have failed electrically is sometimes just starved of air.
Gas and electric
We service both gas and electric residential dryers. Gas appliance work involves the burner assembly and igniter, which we handle as part of a normal service call.
